Hello, this is a serious question, my teeth seem to be growing literally sideways and my dentist is obviously pressuring me to remove them. I am aware of everything said in here but I am concerned mine might be a serious case that will damage my teeth in the long run. Can you give me your thoughts on this? I would really appreciate it.

sideways as in towards other teeth, or towards your tounge / away from your tounge? If there are no teeth in the way such that it's literally going to erupt towards your cheeks or towards your tounge, then yeah, that's probably kinda fucked. If on the other hand there are teeth in the way, then no, the wisdom teeth aren't going to damage them or push them out of the way; they just going to either stay non-erupted forever, or they're just going to reorient themselves to grow in normally. Have you asked about the plausibility of treatments to help them grow in rather than extracting them?

Sideways as in growing horizontally towards the other teeth, so the teeth are in the way yes, the ones above seem to be growing at an angle and they caused me some pain but those look fine to me (the dentist wants to remove all of them, obviously). I did get a sore on one of the upper gums but those seem to be growing fine in comparison to the ones below, according to the x ray at least (I can send a picture of the scan if you will). I haven't asked about a treatment to help them grow but they will probably just insist they need to be removed. I really want to avoid at all costs removing them... that said, their fear mongering is quite effective I must say.

Also, thank you for your post and your answer, it helped to calm me down with all the pressure, God bless.

>"their fear mongering is quite effective"

omg tell me about it.

It's weird how high the pressure is, isn't it? Why is this something they care so much about? It's hard to see how this would fit into any larger agenda, and it's not like this is something that helps in the wallet either. At most maybe the point is to make people less attractive in order to boost bioleninism?

Probably, the real answer is that it's just archaic medical tradition established before the evidence arrived, and scientifically-illiterate med students just ape what they were taught in school. Or maybe they like doing it because it makes them feel like they're doing something productive and it feels like it gives some kind of purpose to their training.

For real... maybe just jewish science or something. Did you go through something similar? And do you recommend to just follow my gut and refuse to have them removed?

i just told my family that I wanted to wait until later on to see if they were still a problem and then it never came up again.

Also, you're not "just following your gut", they are. You're the one relying on evidence-based medical practice. Oh, the horror.
